"Armenia: The Kingdom of the Crying Stones: 27 January 2026, 6:00 PM" by Carlo Coppola
Bari’s City Hall is set to host a high-profile cultural and artistic journey of international relevance. On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, at 6:00 PM, the “Enrico Dalfino” Council Chamber will welcome “Armenia: The Kingdom of the Crying Stones”, a multimedia lecture-performance by renowned photographer and film director Iago Corazza, organized by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Bari.
Admission is free, by reservation, and open to the public until capacity is reached. The Mayor of Bari, Hon. Vito Leccese, has been invited to offer institutional greetings and will attend subject to official commitments.
A journalist, photographer, and explorer who has traveled to more than eighty countries across five continents, Iago Corazza offers an immersive experience that goes far beyond traditional photojournalism. Having led fourteen expeditions to Armenia, Corazza has created a powerful one-man multimedia show that allows the audience to interact in real time with images and videos, exploring the evolution of human space and the millennia-old beauty of a land described as “improbable” because of its geographic position and turbulent history.
A contributor to National Geographic and a witness for UNICEF and Emergency, Corazza combines artistic vision with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. In 2019 he founded the Skua Nature Group, an international network dedicated to environmental and territorial conservation.
The Armenia portrayed through Corazza’s narrative is not merely a small nation between great powers, but a universal symbol of dignity, memory, and culture. Its “crying stones” continue to bear witness to the resilience of a people who have endured persecution, exile, and forced division, preserving their identity across the centuries.
Through thematic chapters, evocative imagery, and striking video footage, the evening will offer the people of Bari a unique opportunity to discover an extraordinary land and the resilience of its inhabitants at a particularly delicate moment in the history of the Caucasus region.
The event will be introduced by Honorary Consul Dario Rupen Timurian and by Councillor General Carlo Coppola, and will conclude with journalist Siranush Quaranta, a descendant of the Armenians who arrived in Bari in 1924 and current advisor for press relations. The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Bari, inaugurated in 2024 with jurisdiction over the Apulia region, serves as a key reference point for the protection of Armenian citizens and for the promotion of cultural relations between Italy and Armenia.
