On February 3, 2025, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia Alessandro Ferranti.
The Minister of Defense congratulated the Ambassador on his recent assignment and wished him success in developing cooperation between Armenia and Italy.
During the meeting, important issues of defense cooperation between Armenia and Italy were discussed.
The parties then referred to the details of the current cooperation process and future prospects in the defense sector, as well as issues related to regional and international security. On this occasion, the Ambassador was accompanied by his deputy Dr. Andrea Peduto and assistant and translator Aram Mkryan.
For the benefit of our readers, we remind that on January 21, Ambassador Alessandro Ferranti presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan. On that occasion, too, the parties recalled the close historical ties and common value systems that over the centuries have contributed to the formation and development of friendly ties between the peoples of Armenia and Italy.
The President of the Republic of Armenia wanted to reaffirm the importance that Armenia and himself attach to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with Italy. He therefore assured the incoming ambassador that the Armenian leadership was ready to support his action in all future initiatives aimed at developing bilateral relations. He therefore did not fail to reiterate the strategic importance of decentralized cooperation and cooperation at the parliamentary level.
Ambassador Ferranti, whose personal characteristics and professional skills are held in the highest regard by both the Italian and Armenian sides, spoke on this occasion with words of courtesy and with determined gestures and precise tones, solemn but not affected, which remind us of the great champions of Italian diplomacy from Visconti Venosta, to Paternò Castello di Sangiuliano, to Giacomo Gorrini, to Gallarati-Scotti, just to recall some of the noblest figures of the past.
