PRESS RELEASE CLOSING EVENT “Armenia: The Kingdom of the Screaming Stones” – Bari, January 27, 2026
Great success for the conference "Armenia: The Kingdom of the Screaming Stones" by Iago Corazza, which sold out in the "Enrico Dalfino" Council Chamber of the City Hall in Bari.
This event was promoted by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Bari, and organized under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Italy, led by H. E. Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. It offered an immersive journey into the heart of Armenia through images, films, and live narration, conveying the historical, spiritual, and identity depth of a thousand-year-old country. The audience followed with great interest and genuine participation.
The Mayor of Bari, Hon. Vito Leccese, unable to attend, personally greeted the Honorary Consul and maestro Iago Corazza before the event and delegated Deputy Mayor Giovanna Iacovone, who conveyed the City's greetings, emphasizing the value of intercultural dialogue and Bari's role as a city of encounter between peoples.
The evening was introduced by Honorary Consul Dario Rupen Timurian and General Councilor Carlo Coppola, who reflected on the historical loyalty of the Armenian people. The conclusions were entrusted to Siranush Quaranta, journalist and member of the consular staff, who in her capacity as advisor described the upcoming institutional appointments.
The next event will take place on February 14, 2026, at the AGEBEO Solidarity Village with a blood drive co-organized by the Armenian Consulate as a Day of Gratitude for the kindness received upon the arrival of Armenian refugees in Bari. This will be followed by a Memorandum of Understanding between the Puglia Region and the Armenian region of Kotayk, a tribute to Charles Aznavour on April 19, and various initiatives for the centenary of the Nor Arax village.
Iago Corazza, photographer and founder of the Skua Nature Group, collaborator with important networks including National Geographic, offered a narrative of Armenia based on direct experience and a visual storytelling capable of restoring memory and dignity.
Among the audience were numerous representatives of the Consular Corps of Puglia, Basilicata, and Molise, the Emeritus President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Dr. Pietro Curzio with his wife Anna Maria Tosto, former Prosecutor of the Republic of Bari and President of Apulia Film Commission. The Consul General of the Republic of Georgia in Bari, Irakli Koiava, was also expected but unable to attend due to a serious assault suffered on Sparano street. The Consulate expresses fraternal solidarity to the Georgian Consul, wishing him a speedy recovery.
