"The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Bari Organises: Blood Donation as an Act of Memory, Gratitude, and Giving Back"
On 14 February, a blood donation day promoted by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Bari will take place in Bari, at the AGEBEO Welcome Village (first side street of Via Camillo Rosalba, near the Giovanni Paolo II Hospital).
Entitled “United in Gratitude: An Embrace Across a Century”, the initiative continues a project launched in 2025 and strongly supported by the Honorary Consul Dario Rupen Timurian, together with the consular staff composed of General Counsellor Carlo Coppola and the Press Officer of the Consulate, Italian-Armenian journalist and scholar Siranush Quaranta.
Conceived with the aim of transforming historical memory into concrete action, the project is carried out under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Italy, under the guidance of H.E. Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
The event is deeply rooted in the history of Bari during the twentieth century, when, in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide, a significant part of the local community offered support and refuge to around one hundred Armenian survivors. In one of the darkest moments in Armenian history, the people of Apulia sought to restore dignity and hope to men, women, and children marked by forced exile, physical and moral wounds, and the loss of their loved ones.
More than a century later, that act of humanity continues to challenge consciences and calls for a response that goes beyond commemoration alone.
“Within this historical legacy,” states Honorary Consul Dario Rupen Timurian, “the blood donation initiative promoted by the Consulate takes shape as both a symbolic and profoundly concrete act of giving back the good that was once received: a vital gesture that transforms gratitude into service, memory into civic responsibility, and remembrance into care for others.”
“Donating blood,” adds Siranush Quaranta, “means reaffirming a bond that does not belong solely to the past. It is a simple gesture that keeps alive, in the present, the support once received.”
The event is open to all citizens and to anyone wishing to take part in an initiative that unites history and the present, memory and responsibility, in the name of a gratitude that becomes a gift.
Փետրվարի 14-ին Իտալիայի Բարի քաղաքում կանցկացվի արյան նվիրատվության օր՝ Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Բարիի Պատվավոր հյուպատոսության նախաձեռնությամբ։ Միջոցառումը տեղի կունենա AGEBEO ընդունելության գյուղում՝ Ջովաննի Պաոլո II հիվանդանոցի հարևանությամբ։
«Միավորված երախտագիտության մեջ. մեկ դար ձգվող գրկախառնություն» խորագիրը կրող նախաձեռնությունը շարունակությունն է 2025 թվականին մեկնարկած մարդասիրական նախագծի, որի նպատակն է պատմական հիշողությունը վերածել կենսական և օգտակար գործողության։
Նախաձեռնությունը հղում է կատարում Բարի քաղաքի քսաներորդ դարի սկզբի պատմությանը, երբ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից հետո տեղի հասարակության աջակցությամբ շուրջ հարյուր հայ փրկվածներ ապաստան և խնամք ստացան։ Ավելի քան մեկ դար անց այդ մարդասիրական ժեստը վերաիմաստավորվում է որպես պատասխանատվություն և ծառայություն ներկա ժամանակում։
Պատվավոր հյուպատոս Դարիո Ռուպեն Թիմուրյանի խոսքով՝ արյան նվիրատվությունը խորհրդանշական և միաժամանակ խորապես գործնական քայլ է՝ երախտագիտությունը ծառայության, հիշողությունը՝ քաղաքացիական պատասխանատվության վերածելու նպատակով։
Միջոցառումն իրականացվում է Իտալիայում Հայաստանի Հանրապետության դեսպանության հովանու ներքո՝ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Նորին Գերազանցություն Վլադիմիր Կարապետյանի ղեկավարությամբ։ Արյան հավաքագրումն իրականացվելու է Բարի քաղաքի AVIS կազմակերպության շարժական արյունահավաք կայանի միջոցով՝ A.Ge.B.E.O. և Amici di Vincenzo Onlus կազմակերպությունների աջակցությամբ։
Միջոցառումը բաց է ողջ հանրության համար և նախատեսված է որպես բաց, ներառական և համայնքային նախաձեռնություն։
